Opening Parafraze.gg…

The essentials

How to play Parafraze.gg

  1. 01
Choose how to compete. The host chooses a game mode. Split into two teams, or use Standard’s Single Team Mode so everyone plays together for individual points.
  2. 02
Take turns giving clues. Teams alternate turns. One player becomes the clue-giver while their teammates guess.
  3. 03
Describe anything on the board. The clue-giver can describe the available words in any order, skip difficult ones, and return to them later.
  4. 04
Don’t give away the spelling. Never say part of the answer, spell it, give its initials, or use “rhymes with.”
  5. 05
Teammates type their guesses. Exact answers earn full points and close spellings earn partial points set by the host. Capitalization, accents, spaces, and punctuation are optional.
  6. 06
Review, then switch teams. The host can correct each recap. Standard ends after everyone gives clues, Point Race ends after an equal-turn round reaches the target, Survival tests each team against a solve goal, and Knockout makes the lower-scoring team lose a life after each matched round.
Player updates

What’s new

Room codes and voice chat

  • Room codes now start visible, and the eye toggle remembers your choice for future rooms.
  • The home page now makes it clear that players need voice chat to share clues.

One simple supporter tier

  • Parafrazer—and every existing membership above Supporter—includes every current supporter feature while the offer is active. Parafrazer has a 7-day free trial followed by $3 a month.
  • Custom word lists can now be exported and imported. If membership access drops, affected lists stay available to export for 30 days before removal.

Clearer Everybody Scores recaps

  • Exact-only progress now reads simply, without an irrelevant Partial label.

Match lengths that fit the team

  • Standard games can now let everyone give clues once, twice, or thrice, with exact turns-per-team limits still available in Advanced Settings.
  • Roster-length matches make room for late joiners to receive a future clue turn.

Clearer progress and spectator choices

  • Everybody Scores card meters now show exact solves in green and fuzzy solves in gold.
  • Players can switch to spectating from web lobbies, including Single Team rematches.
  • Players can step into Spectator mid-game for an AFK break, then return to their saved team whenever they’re ready.

Cleaner cards and player controls

  • Flagged cards once again gain a clear red border, while unused flag corners stay subdued.
  • Missed and BONKED recap cards no longer repeat point information already shown on the card.
  • Signed-in members can clear their Player Statistics from their account page.
  • Room sizes now scale by membership: 16 normally, then 20, 24, or 30 with Contributor, Benefactor, or Champion players.
  • The home entry card is tighter, and How to Play now sits directly beneath the game introduction.

Scoring controls and clearer recaps

  • Advanced settings can customize later solves, full-clear bonuses, fuzzy points, and refill values.
  • Late joining now begins enabled for new rooms.
  • Recap cards now match the live board, with a full-width progress meter for Everybody Scores.

Gameplay and lobby

  • Supporter-only custom lists now implemented, allowing supporters to create and use their own word lists; Unlimited Mode fills shortages with Easy–Hard words.
  • Hosts can drag players above or below teammates to choose their order, including while moving them between teams.
  • Web and Discord show current spectators; late spectators can join active Single Team games when enabled, and spectating hosts can start.
  • Everybody Scores gives clue-givers a 40% full-clear bonus and shows progress; clue boards now use a roomier Word First layout with clearer initial-cap Verdana answers while preserving names intentionally stored in all caps.
  • Guess boxes focus when turns begin, and the complete final answer is preserved at timeout.

Player records and personal boards

  • Standard games can give every guesser private progress and their own chance to score each word.
  • First solvers earn full value, later solvers earn 80%, and clue-givers build a fair team-size-adjusted reward.
  • Supporter custom lists now follow their owners into a lobby, letting any host combine the room’s lists without duplicate words.
  • Signed-in accounts now track private game records, with detailed performance breakdowns for Contributors and above.
  • Small labels are easier to read, the Large setting is roomier, sound icons are clearer, and update prompts now clear after reloading.

Supporters, brought forward

  • The Support Us page is shorter, highlights supporters sooner, and now offers Ko-fi and card options for one-time contributions.
  • Hidden team-name designs now display correctly inside Discord Activities.
  • Single Team games can keep moving when an inactive host is scheduled to give clues again.

Accounts and supporter benefits

  • Optional Discord accounts can connect Patreon support without being required to play.
  • Benefactors display an in-game supporter badge, and Champions can expand rooms from 20 to 30 players.
  • Discord Activity updates now rejoin reliably and include an in-game account panel.
  • Fuzzy cards remain readable and highlighted until someone supplies the exact spelling.

Clearer setup controls

  • Game Mode menus stay readable in Discord, and the redundant host configuration badge is gone.
