The essentials

How to play Parafraze.gg

  1. 01
    Choose how to compete. The host chooses a game mode. Split into two teams, or use Standard’s Single Team Mode so everyone plays together for individual points.
  2. 02
    Take turns giving clues. Teams alternate turns. One player becomes the clue-giver while their teammates guess.
  3. 03
    Describe anything on the board. The clue-giver can describe the available words in any order, skip difficult ones, and return to them later.
  4. 04
    Don’t give away the spelling. Never say part of the answer, spell it, give its initials, or use “rhymes with.”
  5. 05
    Teammates type their guesses. Exact answers earn full points and close spellings earn partial points set by the host. Capitalization, accents, spaces, and punctuation are optional.
  6. 06
    Review, then switch teams. The host can correct each recap. Standard ends after everyone gives clues, Point Race ends after an equal-turn round reaches the target, Survival tests each team against a solve goal, and Knockout makes the lower-scoring team lose a life after each matched round.

A quieter Daily

  • Play starts the usual timed challenge. Find Relaxed Mode inside Options when you want to take your time.
  • Three compact buttons open Options, Daily and archive, and your personal stats.
  • The next-edition countdown and reminders appear after you finish.

Daily at your pace, and more board variety

  • Boards and refill cards now avoid shared answer words where possible, while allowing common words like “the” and “and.”
  • Daily results now show how your score compares, with a compact recap, a shareable score card, and shorter date links.
  • Choose Relaxed Mode for no timer or time penalty. Relaxed scores stay out of statistics.
  • Daily now shows your streak, personal best, and when the next edition arrives, with optional browser reminders.
  • Clearer sound and caption guidance helps you start, and Daily links have their own preview image.

Hear the whole clue

  • Daily clues now keep their opening words when a slower connection delays playback.

A little more thinking time

  • New Daily clues give you two seconds after the main clue before points start decreasing. Earlier clues keep their 12-second window.

Keep the practice going

  • Choose Continue after the practice round for five medium words with quicker voiced clues and captions.

  • Learn by playing: a voiced practice round with captions is available from the home page and web or Discord lobbies.
  • Game titles no longer show an unexpected green outline when a view opens.

More reliable games

  • Faster refill words and smoother live typing updates.
  • Host controls and spectator lists stay current, with drafts preserved when controls refresh.
  • Everybody Scores handles removed players correctly. Games without a timed solve no longer record a zero-second best time.
  • Large word-list backups now import reliably, including words with accents and other Unicode characters.
